Saturday - Round
One of Eliminations
6:00 p.m. The difference between
the March Meet and CHRR is that the first round of eliminations
is run Saturday evening prior to the Cacklefest program.
Murphy,
paired with Brendan Murry, was the next to the last pair in the
round.
Murry had broken a steering arm
backing up from his burnout leaving Murphy with a single.
Going for lane choice
in round two Murphy left hard and stayed on all eight.
Murry's vacant car was
left on the track so Murphy didn't get hung out.
For the conditions Murphy's 5.976
at 236.84 was a very nice number and good for lane choice over
Rick Williamson on Sunday.
Sunday morning Murphy
had some time to kick back and visit.
Sunday - Round
Two
11:51 a.m. Following the pre
race ceremonies, the second round of Top Fuel kicked off under
another sunny sky.
Murphy was paired with
Rick Williamson.
Both drivers left together.
From the hit both cars
were welded together.
Neither driver took his foot
off the throttle until the ET light and what the fans got was
simply a great ol' drag race with Williamson nipping Murphy by
0.0094 seconds (approximately 3 feet).
In the closest Top Fuel race
of the weekend both drivers posted numbers to be proud of. Williamson's
5.867 at 250.06 was just good enough to beat Murphy's 5.870 at
251.18.
All that was left was
to load up and call it a season.
As they always
do, Murphy and the WW2 Racing crew will spend the winter getting
the car ready for the March Meet which Murphy is still trying
to win for an unprecedented fifth time.
